Bernalillo Elementary is an intermediate school serving approximately 380 students in grades 3,4, & 5. The majority of the student population resides in the town of Bernalillo. Bernalillo Elementary serves students from the surrounding communities of Santa Ana, Santo Domingo, San Felipe, Cochiti and Sandia Pueblos. The population at Bernalillo Elementary is comprised by a high percentage of students who speak or have a home language other than English. Each grade level uses research-based strategies and programs with a strong emphasis on bilingual or English as a Second Language instruction. Additionally, there is an influx of students from out of district or state, which contributes to a twenty percent mobility rate.
